Creating a Tutorial

If you are new to Wiki's way of writing then it might look as if it is a another learning curve as Tutorial.net.in does not have a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor. Fear not. On the contrary it is much easier once you are introduced to couple of Wiki formatting principles. This page exactly does not. We have aimed to introduce you very quickly the very essential things you need to know to get you going. Ready!.

Creating a Tutorial page of your choice

You may have noticed that there is no link or a menu item which says 'Create a Tutorial' anywhere in the site. Because the way wiki allows you to create a page is little unique. There are two ways of creating a page.

  • By directly typing the non-existing tutorial page name in the Browser Address bar.
  • By typing your title name in the search field and click go/search.

Tutorial.net.in would search for this particular page and will display it, if it already exists. Other wise it provides a small link which says "edit this page". When you click on the "Edit this page" link you are effectively creating a page with a title that you had searched for.

Let us explain this through an example (you must be a registered user to create a tutorial page).

Let us say you want to create a page with a title 'Photoshop Tutorial'. In the address bar type the below. Also note that space must be turned into an underscore.

http://tutorial.net.in/Photoshop_Tutorial

An alternative for the above is to type 'Photoshop Tutorial' in the search bar and hit go. Tutorial Wiki would automatically bring up a link that says 'Edit this page' (only if a page with the given name does not exist). All you need to do is to click the link and start creating your photoshop tutorial.

Formatting your tutorial

Having created a tutorial page of your choice, now you may wish to use many different HTML tags. Wait!. Although wiki recognizes most of the HTML tags, for the sake security it ignores a few. The best alternative is to use the built in notation prescribed by wiki.

Here is a little example: To create a <H1><H2><H3> tags you need to use

  =Heading 1=
 ==Heading 2==
===Heading 3===
Not so complicated, isn't?

Please refer Wiki Way of Writing Contents for a list of useful Wiki syntax. Do not forget to include your Google Adsense code in your tutorial.
